Dimensions UK are recruiting Support Workers to support a young person who wishes to live in her own self-contained ground floor flat.
Why Dimensions?
Why come to work for Dimensions in particular, when there are many other social care providers out there?
- We can offer great opportunities for career development and offer sector-leading training programmes and qualification opportunities.
- We also have a great range of employee benefits, from our Rewarding Dimensions discount scheme and our comprehensive Employee Assistance Scheme to childcare vouchers, a bike to work scheme and loans for commuter season tickets.
- We are a social care provider at the very cutting edge of support provision with a genuine commitment to be the leader within its sector.
- We base what we do and who we are on our values, which are real, and we genuinely care.
What the role entails
This role will be supporting one young woman in a supported living home. 'Sarah' is extremely sociable and loves to have a chat with her support team. She enjoys watching 1970's Coronation Street and is often influenced to put rollers in her hair by the actresses! 'Sarah' also enjoys shopping and retail therapy, but she does require encouragement to engage in other activities. We are searching for a support team who will encourage her to re-engage with past activities including attending day programme and going swimming.
'Sarah's' support staff will follow all guidance to support her to maintain a healthy diet. This will include meal planning, and shopping for healthy food items. This woman has limited cooking skills, and the newest support worker will assist her to learn new skills and support her to use kitchen equipment safely.
Additionally, you will encourage independence with her personal care, support with the use of a wheelchair (for long distance walks), emotional support when upset re pain management and provide encouragement, prompts and support to complete tasks within the home.
There is no such thing as a 'typical' support worker. Colleagues range from school leavers who want a job that involves helping people, to those who want a change of career, to experienced support workers wanting to work for an organisation that truly places the people it supports at the heart of all it does, to those coming to the end of a completely different career who want to give something back to their community.
